Dr. Alice FlahertyThe Movement Disorders Fellowship is a two-year program aimed primarily at physicians wishing to focus on research during their fellowship. Fellows typically spend 90% of their time on research and one half-day per week seeing movement patients in clinical setting. Clinical experience can be tailored to the fellow's interest, but typically includes exposure to the Botox clinic, deep brain stimulator unit, Huntington's group, and others.
A large part of the application process is the fellow's finding a research group with whom to work. Most applicants will already have a strong idea of what research group they want to join. Research can be carried out within any of the many research institutions in Boston, including non-medical settings such as MIT. We are happy to provide guidance to applicants who need more information about research opportunities at Harvard. Typically, our fellows' funding comes either from the lab in which they are carrying out their research, or by training grants they have acquired themselves.
