The Brigham and Women's Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy Fellowship training program is organized to provide the intellectual environment, formal instruction, peer interaction, and broad supervised clinical experience necessary for fellows to master the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential to the practice of clinical neurophysiology. The program, founded by the late clinician and researcher, Edward B. Bromfield, MD, has been accredited by the ACGME since 2000. This leadingedge program prepares neurologists to progress into a subspecialty epilepsy practice, research or teaching career in clinical neurophysiology. A second year of training in advanced epilepsy with a focus on research is also available.

Central to the program is the fellow's attainment, at the level of a new practitioner, of the six  ACGME core competencies in the areas of patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, and systems-based practice. The program is designed to foster the development of well-rounded, competent clinical and academic clinical neurophysiologists. We value a strong commitment to the highest standards of patient care. We require candidates to engage with research and quality improvement projects and other scholarly experiences, with support of first rate mentors.

Each rotation includes experiences and formal evaluations of outcomes, designed to ensure the development of competent graduates in clinical neurophysiology. Fellows in this program participate in a structured core clinical and educational experience, with rotations at Brigham and Women's Hospital and pediatric rotations at Boston Children's Hospital. The neurophysiology lectureship is jointly shared with the Massachusetts General Hospital epilepsy program. The Bromfield Epilepsy Center fellowships are under the direction and supervision of Program Director Barbara Dworetzky, MD.

Eligibility/Application Process

Applicants interested in applying for the ACGME Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy program must be board certified/eligible in Neurology or Child Neurology, and should send a letter describing their career goals along with a curriculum vitae, three letters of reference, and copies of USMLE scores to Barbara Dworetzky c/o Ayfer Candeger by electronic mail.
