Massachusetts General Hospital

Massachusetts General Hospital

Established in 1811 by some of America's founding fathers and most respected physicians, Massachusetts General Hospital is the third oldest general hospital in the United States and the oldest in New England. It is the first and largest teaching hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School. In addition, MGH operates the largest hospital-based research program in the United States. The hospital's mission — to understand disease, to teach the art and science of medicine, and to improve the care of patients — has remained constant throughout its history. MGH is a founding member of Partners HealthCare System, Inc.
